If you have to start, Thanced in top right is usually a safe choice. Otherwise he loves putting Gaius top middle or Bahamut to the side, so Y'shotla in the middle is usually good.

Becomes pretty doable with Yda&Papalymo, Thancred, Y'shotla, Urianger and Alphinaud&Alisaie. Just gotta take one card and play very defensively afterwards. It's much easier if he goes first but still doable otherwise.

Unfortunately I wasn't keeping track of the amount of matches but here are the cards I've gotten from grinding him: 104 Rhitahtyn(31,200 MGP) 100 Livia(30,000 MGP) 67 Nero(53,600 MGP) 37 Gaius(55,500 MGP) Based on my personal experience I would agree it's about 90% chance to get a card vs no card, but I think Gaius' drop rate is a lot higher relative to Nero's than the page's data shows If you're new in your triple triad collection journey I'd recommend a Primal deck, or if you're farther along a Scion deck. I've been using Y'shtola, Thancred, Urianger, Heavensward Y'shtola, and Stormblood Alphinaud & Alisaie If you have some spare MGP and almost no cards you could possibly try using the imperial cards from the Imperial Triple Triad card pack sold at the Gold Saucer. I haven't tried using those cards myself but just looking at them it seems like you could win using them. With my Scion deck I win 99% of the time and draw 1%. The times I do draw are probably winnable.

Expanding on the strat the user below posted, the way you play the deck in all cases is thus: Start every game with placing H. Thancred Bot-Right and only take cards using the Twins, if after placing H. Thancred he doesn't present you with a guaranteed +1 place Y'shtola in the Bot-Left corner and wait, if he still doesn't give you a free +1 but Thancred in the Top-Leftmost square of the board and then play the twins on your next turn. I am hesistent to call this a 100% winrate strat because I've only tested it 20 times but so far I haven't lost or drawn a single game

The best and easiest NPC to farm MGP from. Use a Scion Asc. Deck (Y'shtola, Thancred, Arenvald, Heavensward Thancred and Stormblood Alphi & Alisaie) Start every match by putting H. Thancred in the bot, right corner of the board, if he exposes Gaius' 5 side take with the Stormblood Twins and then just play the rest of the cards as you normally would, don't ever expose your card's low value sides. I have a 90% winrate with this deck and the other 10% is just draws when he really doesn't play nice with his card placement. Combined with him dropping cards like candy now this is great to do if you just want to effortlessly no-life grind some MGP for those final cards Only hurdle to playing this deck is getting 150 TT cards to unlock H. Thancred, the rest is easy. Happy farming!

The Gaius is a lie. I wish there was an in-game tracker of how many times you've fought someone and your w/d/l records. I have 26 Rhitahytn, 20 Livia, 12 Nero. I've sold a lot of the cards I already had so I probably had about 40 of each. My win-rate is 90-100%. Help.

222 Wins / ~3 hours nonstop for all card drops, I guess I was somewhat lucky. My drop rates were: 35 Rhitahtyn (~15,7%), 35 Livia (~15,7%), 17 Nero (7,7%), 1 Gaius (~0,5%; as this was the only drop probably not too meaningful) I used A/A for safe right corner if first, Rhitahtyn, Scarface Bugaal, Livia and the Magitek Gunship, since I couldn't use unlimited 3-star cards. If played correctly I had a winrate of way over 90% with this match-up. Best way was to always get Bahamut or Gaius if the catch would make them safe, then play your cards so 2 weak slots are open to recatch them if taken the round after playing.

Agreed 4 cards of same race + an A/A in a corner. I used Urianger, Thancred, Yshtola, Papalymo + Squall. Don't be scared to put yourself at risk to take Gaius or Bahamut, as you'll get them back. Mostly wins, some draws, very few losses (2?). 32W = 4 Livia, 4 Rhitahtyn, 2 Nero, and finally Gaius

Recommended: - 5 cards of the same race - 4/5* starter card with 9/9 corner. (f.e. Alphinaud&Alisae) - 4 more cards that have each atleast 2 digits with atleast 7, there are a couple ones wth a 7/8 corner configuration of the same race - Game tip: the game rule maxes a lot of the digits out, so they can't be conquered anymore, take advantage of that by taking over opponents cards when only one exposed side is left to conquer (all other sides are blocked or atleast A/10) with that in mind, you should easily get a 100% win rate, unless theres a daily rule with different conquer mechanics (f.e. "same")

I would counter that a virtually unbeatable deck is a Scion set. Play Alphinaud & Alisaie in the bottom right every time for an untakeable first card (regardless of whether you're playing first or second) and go from there with Y'shtola (bottom left if he hasn't played Gaius first), Urianger, Papalymo & Yda, and Hoary Boulder & Coultenet (usually played last to seal the victory). As the Ascension bonuses add up, it's nearly impossible for him to take your cards. Doesn't help with that Gaius drop rate, though...

Close to 200 wins and still no drop. I think Praetorium is the better bet for the card.... although, if you use Triple Triad as a method for farming MGP, this guy is probably the best bet. No time window, nearly 100% win rate, and decent reward with about a 30% chance for a 300 MGP card.

Okay he is farmable with my one star beast set and Muramix 2*. It is by no means a sure win often resulting in draws, but with basic observation a rookie set can indeed farm the hell off of him. I believe it would be even easier with a two star team.

Farmed this guy for hours, if you want the Gaius card you'd probably be luckier in The Praetorium. Not quite sure what's wrong with this guy, my guess is the high drop rate of the other cards makes the Gaius card drop even rarer.
