The requirements on this fight are super incorrect. It had me running in circles for hours. You need to start the quest "The Paths We Walk", and progress it until you need to talk to her. This can be found by going to Foundation - The Last Vigil, and entering the manor. Also, bonus bummer: The quest will not appear on your map until entering the manor.

I still had a quest that involved her, The Paths We Walk, that I had left unfinished for years. So was stuck repeating that quests dialog response until I turned it in. If you cant challenge her, make sure you finished quests involving her at all. Or, you can try picking up the quest next to her from the cook, give her the quest item, then talk to her again.

I had a pretty easy time beating her with Nero, Lyna, Hien, Yshtola, and Dawon. Hien was mostly there because I hated having him place a high card at the top every time and being unable to counter it. If you go first, try to place Lyna in top right or Nero in top left, or something similar. If you go second, capture Cid or Aymeric with Hien, let Hien get taken, and watch as he starts dumping out all his low ranking cards for you to take.

The rewards drop thick and fast - got both cards within 4 wins via Ysale, Hilda, The Griffin, Brute Justice, and Regula van Hydrus -- filling the corners with 88-sides and abusing the 'same' rule, preferably with Brute Justice in the middle, but it often won't matter thanks to combos (give or take a few matches where you might draw). AI will use the same strat via Paissa and Dhalmel before you do most of the time, so you can either re-steal them or just combo the board right back. No doubt there are better strategies but I didn't have to play against her too long to learn any.

Salty, my husband had the same issue, if you have a quest in your journal to get the hauchefont emote, then you need to clear that before you can challenge Laniatte

Someone dueling her beside me recommended: Alpha, Pipin Tarupin, Raya-O and A-Ruhn, Godbert, and Therion, and my win rate shot up to 90%. I hate this NPC. But Brute cheese is a safe way to go. Right now at 29 games: 15W/7L/7D. 1 freakin Dhalmel. If you’re struggling, I generally put Suz N, Byakko E, Garuda S. He shifts a lot as to what he goes for. If mid is gone, pick the corner with 2 7s (probably NE-Suz and Byakko), and throw Brute. That seemed to be enough to win.

I really struggled with this NPC more than I should, more than any other so far. I'm bad with plus. I kept getting hammered by plus rule until I read a comment below about cheesing the same rule and letting them take all your cards in the cardinals and then using brute justice in the middle to get them all back. 8 wins later I got both cards.

Took about 3 hrs to get both cards. (I don’t count the amount of plays because it makes me discouraged.) I used Artoriel de Fortemps to bait their Paissa. Rest of the deck was Lucia goe Junius, Estinien, Griffin & Warrior of Light. (Sharing because I didn’t see a lot of these cards mentioned.) Glad it’s over! Good luck guys!

Coming at you live from 2020. Farmed this on a new character - had the Dhalmel from previous farm session, but this session took 35 wins (4 Dhalmel drops then finally a Paissa). I was using Ysayle, Hilda, Lucia, Estinien, and Regula. And I got to go first basically every match. Because RNG.

31 victories to get both cards for me. A useful tip to know is that Laniaitte will always use Paissa last unless you give her the opportunity to flip cards with it via Same or Plus. Avoid that and you can predict her last card (Paissa) fairly often, which is helpful regarding how to play your own cards at the business end of things. It wasn't fool proof but I had good success with Ysayle, Estinien, Lucia, Blue Dragon (to help avoid 8/8 corner combinations that could be used against me), and Regula van Hydrus, whose three 8s were strong defensively while being helpful with Same and Plus.

I run Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, King Mog XII and Heavensward Y'shtola. Always start with Y'shtola at the bottom left corner followed by either Titan at top middle or Garuda at bottom middle, then try to get some Sames and Pluses.

i used tripleycatpew strategy, but swapped Roundrox for Qititan, if he would put Cid in top left, i would put Qutitan in middle rift, if you would go under Qutitan i would swap Estilien with Lucia, with some practice you can get more less 100% wins

Had a decent win rate with Roundrox, Ysayle, Onion Knight, Estinien and Lucia. Put Roundrox in the middle, he'll probably use Count or Lucia top middle, then you put Estinien to the left of roundrox and follow up with a Ysayle in the top left for a Same combo. Sometimes he'll put Count in the bottom middle in which case you adjust the strategy to capture the bottom left corner.
