Used a similar strategy on Marcechamp in forelands - did a deck of moogle, gaelicat, tonberry, amaljaa, ixal. Some rules were kinder than others but this helped with the regional "Reverse" rule. Hope this helps someone.

Okay so it took me 2W to get Aymeric. I won without reverse regional rule - my deck was Bahamut, Behemoth, Urianger, Roland, Thancred. The caveat is that you will draw a LOT. You will probably lose some. However, the trick is to play right. Only Shiva has a strong right side so if you can bait her out early it becomes a lot easier to win.

Without doubt the most frustrating NPC yet. She has a powerful hand as it is, and then the Roulette rules make everything a crab shoot. If it's not Chaos forcing you to play your cards in the least optimal order it's Swap trading your best card for her Gaelicat or your awesome deck getting neutered by Reverse. Having won Aymeric I'll take my chances on getting Vicegerent via the dungeon.
